In class we also looked at another analysis technique called Affinity mapping. Also known as an Affinity Diagram, this is a tool that gathers large amounts of data such as ideas, opinions and issues, and puts them into groupings based on their natural relationships. Affinity Mapping is a tool often used my designers to group ideas generated by brainstorming.
Affinity Mapping is another technique that I find to be an effective way of gathering qualitative research. My group and I used this method in class where we were to analyse our transcripts and come up with information such as facts and opinions, repeated content and social/cultural information. I find this to be an affective method for gathering research as it allows you to identify all the key information in a more neat and organised way that can be helpful for when you begin to come up with insights.
